Review as a reviewer

4 min read

You've been invited as a reviewer in a review campaign — open the Reviewer app, read a tester's session, give your own independent (blind) rating, and consult the campaign report.

When someone invites you as a reviewer to a review campaign, you read the sessions that testers had with an agent and give your own independent judgement. Reviews are blind: the tester’s rating and comment stay hidden until you submit yours, so your judgement isn’t influenced. You do this in the Reviewer app, and you can also consult the campaign’s aggregated report.

The Reviewer app opens from your workspace card on the home page. Its button (with a glasses icon) only appears once you’ve been invited to review a campaign in that workspace.

This guide is for reviewers. If you were invited as a tester (to chat with the agent), see Participate as a tester. If you’re setting up the campaign, see Review campaigns.

How it works

  • A campaign has testers’ sessions waiting to be reviewed. You open one, read its transcript, and submit Your review: an overall star rating (required), an optional comment, and the campaign’s reviewer questions.
  • Blind review — until you submit, the tester’s rating/comment are hidden. You only see the objective Session facts and the transcript. After you submit, the Tester feedback and Other reviewers become visible, and you can still edit your review (Save changes).
  • You can’t review your own tester sessions — those rows are marked your session and their action is disabled.
  • The Campaign report aggregates everything: mean ratings, per-question distributions, and a per-session matrix, with Download CSV.

Step by step

1. Open the Reviewer app

On the home page, find your workspace card and open its app menu (the chevron next to the main button). Choose Review — the entry with the glasses icon. (If you don’t see it, you haven’t been invited to review a campaign in that workspace yet.)

2. Open your campaign

The My review campaigns page lists campaigns where you’re a reviewer, each with the note Review tester sessions and submit your own rating. Click one to open it. If you have none yet, it shows No review campaigns yet.

3. Pick a session to review

The campaign page shows the agent and Sessions to review — a table with columns Session, Started, Messages, Reviewers, and My review (Pending or Submitted). Click Review on a pending session (or View on one you’ve already done). Rows marked your session are disabled — you can’t review your own.

4. Read and submit your review (blind)

The session opens with two panes:

  • On the left, the Session facts (objective answers the tester gave) and the Transcript of the conversation. A banner reminds you that the tester’s rating and comment are hidden until you submit — this keeps your judgement independent.
  • On the right, Your review: an overall Your rating (1–5 stars, required), an optional Comment, and the campaign’s reviewer questions (rating / single choice / free text). Fill it in and click Submit review.

5. See the revealed feedback

Once you’ve submitted, the review is no longer blind. The Tester feedback (their overall rating and comment) and any Other reviewers appear on the left. Your own review stays editable — adjust it and click Save changes if needed.

6. Open the campaign report

From the campaign page, click Campaign report (top right) to see the aggregated results across all sessions and reviewers.

7. Read the report

The report shows headline stats — Sessions, Mean tester rating, Mean reviewer rating, Mean end-of-phase — a per-question breakdown, and a Session matrix (per session: tester, reviewers, mean reviewer rating and spread). Use Download CSV to export the raw data.

Tips

  • Form your opinion from the transcript and Session facts first — that’s the point of the blind review. The tester’s rating only appears afterwards.
  • Answer every reviewer question thoughtfully; your responses feed the report’s per-question breakdown.
  • Compare your rating with Other reviewers (visible after you submit) to see where judgements agree or differ.

Troubleshooting

  • I don’t see the Reviewer app — its button only appears after you’ve been invited as a reviewer to a campaign in that workspace (invitations arrive by email). Unlike testers, reviewers keep access to closed campaigns too.
  • The Review button is disabled on a row — that’s your own tester session (marked your session); reviewers can’t review their own sessions.
  • I can’t submit / edit my review — an overall Your rating plus every required question is needed to submit. If the campaign is closed, sessions become read-only and can no longer be edited.
  • The tester’s rating is hidden — that’s intentional (blind review); it appears once you submit your own review.
  • Related: the sessions you review come from testers, and the campaign itself is set up in Review campaigns.
